FAQ and Troubleshooter - Replay Media Catcher 3

Video History Tool stopped working after Firefox 3.6.4 update. How can I fix it?

The video history tool was broken by a Firefox update. We've fixed the problem but you must do the following:

    1. Uninstall your current Replay Media Catcher.
    2. If you own the Freecorder Toolbar, uninstall that as well. You'll see two entries for uninstall. Freecorder Toolbar and Freecorder Application. Uninstall them both.
    3. Download the latest Replay Media Catcher from this link. Then install.
    4. If you uninstalled Freecorder Toolbar in step 2 above, download the latest Freecorder Toolbar from this link . Then install.
    5. The video history tool in both Freecorder Toolbar and Replay Media Catcher will now work properly.

My browser will sometimes crash or freeze if Replay Media Catcher is active. What can I do?

If your browser should crash or freeze while Replay Media Catcher is active, please try the following:

  1. Re-boot your computer. Lack of available resources or conflict with another running process may be causing the problem. A re-boot will usually help.
  2. Some programs will conflict with Replay Media Catcher if they are running. If you have any of these or a similar application running on your computer, try shutting them down while Replay Media Catcher is running in order to determine which one is conflicting:

LiveMesh
CounterSpy
SpySweeper
ZoneAlarm
CA Anti-Spyware Utility
Comodo
Vista Transformation Pack
Net Nanny
Threatfire
Trusteer Rappoirt
PCTools
Avast

I cannot record from Hulu.com (or any site hosting Hulu content), TV.com, CBS.com, Amazon and Comedy Central (Daily Show and Colbert Report).

As of January 28, 2009, any newly installed copy of Replay Media Catcher does not support sites that use Adobe Secure RTMP Measures. Please see our Adobe Secure RTMP Measures FAQ page for more information.

Replay Video Capture is our recommended solution for recording these sites. It works great. Try it!

Troubleshooter

If you have trouble recording, please try the following:

  1. Click record in Replay Media Catcher before you begin playing the content that you want captured. In some cases you may need to start Replay Media Catcher before you open the source you will be capturing from.
  2. If you have already played the content once before capturing, you may need to clear your temporary internet files so that Replay Media Catcher can detect the content. To clear your temporary internet files from Internet Explorer 7, click on Tools then Internet Options then click the Delete button under the Browsing History section of the General tab. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button. Once you have deleted your temporary internet files, try recording again.
  3. Some sites can only be captured using the Web Stream Dumper plug-in.

If you still have trouble recording, it's probably because the media is in a format that Replay Media Catcher doesn't yet support. Here's a quick way to tell if a video stream is Flash:

  1. Right click on the video in the Web page.
  2. If it's a Flash Video, you'll see "Flash Player" mentioned in the pop-up. Here are some examples:
