|Replay Media Catcher and Adobe Secure RTMP Measures FAQ|
As of January 28, 2009, any newly installed copy of Replay Media Catcher does not support Adobe Secure RTMP Measures. We have resolved a dispute with Adobe Systems Incorporated, without admitting any wrongdoing or liability, by agreeing not to circumvent any Secure RTMP Measures developed by Adobe.
While these Secure RTMP sites are a tiny percentage of the video recorded by Replay Media Catcher, some customers may be affected. This change affects many clips on the following sites: Hulu.com (or any site hosting Hulu content), TV.com, Amazon and Comedy Central (Daily Show and Colbert Report).
What should I do if I cannot record a site using Replay Media Catcher?
Same as always - get Replay Video Capture! Our Replay Video Capture product is able to record ANY video site. While it is not as convenient as Replay Media Catcher, you will get a great quality video recording - often better than Replay Media Catcher was able to do. Try it!
Our policy going forward is not to offer technical support or maintenance on using Replay Media Catcher or the existing plug-ins to stream-capture any site that uses Secure RTMP Measures. While our support team tries to be as helpful as they can, if you ask about a specific site that uses Secure RTMP, they will politely point you to this page, and recommend Replay Video Capture (which works great!).
Will my current copy of Replay Media Catcher change?
No. If you've installed Replay Media Catcher 3.01 prior to January 28, 2009, no new plug-in downloads will occur unless you delete the old files on your PC.
How will the new Replay Media Catcher Change?
Updates to Replay Media Catcher (3.02 and later) will have a newly modified plugin_zrtmp.dll, which is automatically downloaded to the Replay Media Catcher plug-ins folder (usually C:\Program Files\Replay Media Catcher\plugins) as a part of the installation process. In addition, any new Replay Media Catcher 3.01 installations will also get the new plug-in. This plug-in will offer the full range of our RTMP support (except for the ability to stream-capture by circumventing Adobe's Secure RTMP Measures). We plan on continuing to enhance Replay Media Catcher and its plug-ins as the video world continues to evolve.
Thanks for your support and understanding!
